My life began with what seemed to be one challenge after another. My teenage mom was forced into secretly relinquishing me into a gray market adoption. My adoptive parents were inadequately prepared for parenthood. My adoptive father was very sick. When I was three years old, I had a traumatic experience. My dad collapsed, leaving me alone for hours with him lying on the floor. He passed away a few months later.
School presented other struggles for me. Learning disabilities, Illness and a sleep disorder that followed me into my adult life.
As a child, I experienced depression and anxiety. I felt like a broken person. But I did have a natural curiosity about how our minds process what has happened to us into feelings, and then how and why we choose to act on those feelings. This curiosity began early for me. I started reading any Psychology textbook I could get my hands on. I was excited to get into therapy. Meditation practice, yoga classes and therapy were an established part of my life by the time I was nineteen.
Taking care of myself made me a stronger person.
I still have several life challenges, but I draw on the endless well of strength and resilience I find within my personal selfcare plan and my Mindfulness practice.
Now, my work/life focus is educating people about mindfulness. Helping them establish a mindfulness practice that works within their life. Tailoring guided meditations to fit the individual needs of my clients, and through a coaching framework, enable people who are struggling with meditation challenges to experience a practice filled with joy.
May you be well. May you be resilient.
